Other services offer only non medical or surgical
options. Do you only offer one or the other?

We are the first Medical Service to offer a complete range of care for hair problems that are individualised for each customer. We can assist with Medication, Topical Applications, Natural Therapies, Laser Technologies, Surgical Transplants, Hair Replacement, Hair Pieces, Hair Removal and Skin Care after hair loss.

How successful is the treatment of Hair Loss?

Results are very successful and depend on the type of treatment selected. The most successful is transplantation and approximately 90% of the transplanted hair will grow and continue to do so, with the other medical treatments you can expect up to 80% of people being able to stabilise their hair loss problem.

Is there any pain in Hair Transplant Surgery?

Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area as with any minor surgery. It is your choice to have the procedure carried out under intravenous sedation or not. Narcotic drugs are never used. Medication for discomfort may be required.

Is the Hair Transplant Surgery suitable for everyone?

Provided there is enough donor hair at the back of your head, the procedure is suitable for you. Very few, although some people, have limited donor hair, and even then there are alternative methods that can provide hair from other parts of the body. Good general health is necessary of course.

How long does it take for transplanted hair to grow?

Sometimes the hair is visible ten days after your surgery. In most cases these hair will shed as a result of the surgery (trauma to the hair bulb), but the implanted bulb remains to grow a new hair, which will continue to grow. 12 to 16 weeks after your surgery you will see the results, with new hair growth continuing over the next 9-18 months.

Why doesn't the transplanted hair fall out?

Genetically, a person with Male Pattern Baldness will lose the hair on the top and sides of the head, but the hair at the back of the head will remain. The majority of people with hair loss have this dense area at the back of their head that is genetically protected from Male Pattern Baldness. By taking the follicles from this area at the back means that these follicles are protected, we ensure they will remain where they are placed forever.

How often do I have to have a procedure?

That depends on the amount of hair you have lost, but that decision is entirely up to you. You must remember that in most cases hair loss is an ongoing process. You may elect to have a further procedure at a later stage convenient to you.

Is it totally undetectable?

The graft sites (where the hair bulbs are placed) are not detectable at all. The donor area may have a slight scar that is sometimes visible if you shave your hair. There is NO bald area left at the back after the bulbs have been removed.

Do I have to have a 'strip excision' to remove the hair
bulbs from the back of the head?

No, we use various methods to remove the donor hair from the back of the head. The hair bulbs may be individually 'plucked' and removed in small groups as opposed to a 'strip' but this method is more time consuming and thus more expensive. The technique most suitable for you will be discussed and chosen at your assessment.

What is the cost?

We feel that there is no one procedure suitable for everyone. We choose and discuss at your consultation, the different techniques and size of procedure specific or suitable to you. These techniques have varying costs, therefore making it very difficult to be specific with regard to cost without having any idea of the problem area concerned, but non surgical options can start from less than $200 per month and a surgical solution can start from around $30 per month. Finance is available in our Australian Clinics.
